Two research Assistants - Biotechnology We have two RA positions, one for each of the following projects: 1. “A.h. project” will cover next generation sequencing (genome and RNAseq), de novo assembly, abiotic stress (salt) induced genes, qPCR data validation, gene discovery and annotation, full length cDNA cloning, transformation to and functional analysis in Arabidopsis (T0 and T1). 2. “S.l. project” will cover abiotic stress (salt) induced genes, RNA isolation, RT-PCR, gene discovery using DNA microarray (Affymetrix), qPCR data validation, reference molecular markers, bioinformatics, 3’ and 5’ RACE, cloning of full length cDNA, sequencing, phylogenetics. Assigned tasks will be evaluated periodically. All experimental data will be documented and discussed in periodical lab meetings. Data will be compiled for conference contributions and for potential manuscripts to be published in peer reviews journals. The proposed position is highly demanding. Nonetheless, it is rewarding with new skills and peer reviewed publications. The monthly salary will be SAR 6,000.- (including accommodation and travel expenses). The contract extends for two years at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Important comments: - Some project tasks would require new skills and techniques. We will be actively involved in training you in this regard. - The assigned salary is the maximum to be covered by our projects. - The position may suit singles rather than married applicants, however, both can reply. - The position is hosted at KSU in Riyadh, which is an advantage as compared to positions outside Riyadh.
